Radio, live transmission

We'll preface this by saying we exclusively listen to KEXP, but if we find a radio we think we'll tune in to this for a bit. What, you ask? 2005_02_artsradio.jpgThis week, starting tonight, Jake Fogelnest and Paul Scheer will be taking over K-Rock's airwaves from 10pm to 2am. It'll be like college radio...only with lots of people listening and, like, your stoned boyfriend not "deejaying".
You may want to tune in tonight, as there are only a few "rules" these two have to follow and, well, hopefully they can break them all and last the week but you never know. Talk hard. Steal the air. Yeah, we're quoting Pump Up the Volume in a post about a radio show.
The only drawback is that since it's radio you won't be able to see the hottest gap tooth since Scott Speedman. We're not kidding. Paul Scheer is hot and probably half the reason we watch Best Week Ever.

Who?

People still listen to K-Rock?

KCRW online. Best radio station ever.

Spare me Fogelnest.. that's so what 1995.. give me a break it's K-Rock.. let's see he will be hip and play a deep cut from Franz Ferninand or maybe The Bloc Party.. spare me... fake MTV coolness.

While I think a better explanation of while Fogelnest and Scheer are could have been done for this entry, this is great news. While some might think Jake is just a remnant of his "Squirt TV" past on public access and MTV, he's actually been doing some great work on his own--and with Scheer--in the improv comedy world. Scheer's stint doing "Automatic Vaudeville" is one of the best things I've ever seen in my life. And Fogelnest helped produce that.

Yeah, WFMU has freeform radio. But K-Rock going back to the basics sounds like a real cool idea in this Clear Channel dominated world.

And, uh, why, excactly, are we suppose to care about this?

In any case, nice working in of a Joy Division tune mofos.

G.

Living in seattle and having heard kexp, I think they're indie pop lame. WFMU is far superior imo.
