If you missed out on tickets to the Futureheads tonight there are still a lot of other great shows this week. Tonight we suggest the Epochs. We were handed their cd upon leaving the Arcade Fire show at Irving earlier this month. Upon listening we discovered some uncomparable eclectic electro-acoustic-pop (say that 3 times fast). They play at the Knitting Factory tap bar tonight at 10:30 (for free). Before they go on check out Mommy and Daddy at 8pm downstairs in the Knit's Old Office.
If you're in Brooklyn and feel like staying local, or if you're in Manhattan and aren't amongst those who view Brooklyn as another country...head over to Southpaw for Morningwood, 20-20's and the Harlem Shakes. The Harlem Shakes are really fun! Can't it sometimes just be that simple?
Wednesday head over to Webster Hall for Kings of Leon and the unfortunately named opener, Vagenius.
Thursday is the Animal Collective (pictured) at new Williamsburg venue Llano Estacado, their Friday show at Bowery is already sold out.
As part of the Save Tonic crusade Ben Lee will be performing at 8pm on Thursday to be followed by Vincent Gallo and Sean Lennon at 10:30.
Not too much happening on Friday night, but if you can make it over to Maxwell's in Jersey then check out The Natural History or, closer to home, art-rock-esque band Oneida plays at Sin-e.
If you have a spare $35 you can check out Radio 4 and Ian Brown (of the Stone Roses) at Webster Hall on Saturday. Bring about $50 for beer. As an alternative we suggest one of the better line-ups this week at the smaller venue/purveyor of regularly priced beers, Rothko. Saturday's show includes I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness (best band name ever?!), The Winter Pageant, Uncut and the Octopus Project.
If you missed out on Luna tickets, don't cry, stay home and rest up for next weeks shows...there's a lot. And hopefully Ben will be back to tell you all about them. Until then kids, Carlson out.
