Nouvelle Vague Director @ Film Forum

French film director Agnès Varda was one of the few women directors who broke the gender barrier of the French New Wave's boys club of film geekery during the '60s. Her finely wrought characterization and her play with the possibilities of photography to represent memory have been gracing screens for nearly 50 years. Her newest film, Cinévardaphoto interweaves footage from three of her movies, short "cineessays."

See Varda in person (!film icon alert!) tonight at the Film Forum as she will be on hand for a Q&A following the 6:30 pm screening and will introduce the 8:20 pm show. Cinévardaphoto will play for the next two weeks.
