Super Bowl XXXIX Halftime Controversy!

2005_02_mayorpaul.jpg

Dude, Paul McCartney totally said "California grass," while singing "Get Back (lyrics). Gothamist believes that "Get Back" is the Beatles' "Walk on the Wild Side." The FCC is starting to count its money! McCartney is most definitely sending some sort of message, following that up with "Live and the Let Die" - the stage fire looks like Fallujah, as our friend JW notes.

And Paul is doing the pelvic thrusts. Hi-oh!

Super Bowl XXXIX website and Tim Carvell's hilarious NY Times op-ed about the NFL's notes to McCartney.

"get back" followed by "live and let die"? definitely an anti-war message.

jj's wardrobe malfunction (which btw she did regularly on her rhythm nation tour) and the old beatle aside, i still think the gold standard for super bowl halftime entertainment was michael jackson's electrifying performance a few years back. remember? he "popped up" all over the stage that was pretty cool!

Those pelvic thrusts were scandalous. Better Email the FCC. By the way that red shirt made him look gay. If I had children, they would've been corrupted for life.

How about the Pepsi ad where Carson (from Queer Eye) checks out the guy? Now THAT will corrupt those innocent children!

Worst. Halftime. Show. Ever. John is spinning in his grave. So boring. So gay.

Thankfully, McCartney realized he can't dance and stopped pretty soon after he started. He would have been smoother in a nice suit. I would have liked Axel Rose singing Live and Let Die, Eric Clapton singing Cocaine (instead of the syrupy megahit drug song Hey Jude) and U2 singing anything. And how do those male rock stars stay so trim year after year?

McCartney's cover of Guns 'n' Roses' "Live at Let Die" totally sucked! If you're gonna do a classic, you gotta have an edge to it, something to make it your own, for crying out loud, not that early 70's power-pop sound. There will never be another Axl Rose.

Velleity,
You're an idiot and you made a fool of yourself. Paul McCartney wrote and released "Live and Let Die" way before Guns n Roses existed. And the name of the song is "Live AND Let Die," not "Live at Let Die."

YOU ALL SUCK!!! THAT HALF TIME SHOW WAS DOPE!!!
