just another example of worthless criminal garbage filth at work who by some mistake escaped being aborted ...amazing how we continue to tolerate the human waste that steal souls like this but look around and see for yourself how crime and the criminal is glorified and is made to be feared in all media ...and when they are arrested the criminal lobby and criminal loving left go to work to explain away their evil actions ...until and unless the enemy is disposed of (let's start with a mass execution ceremony of all 5,000+ death row murderers on memorial day) we will continue to cower and fear (respect) them and the filth scum that they represent

Tempest...

I said "...and people are shocked that she got shot," meaning that I found it strange that people were *surprised* that she got shot immediately after she taunted the gunslinger.

If the woman did not taunt the kid yet *still* got shot, THAT would be more surprising.

It's unfortunate that she got shot, but was it *surprising* considering the circumstances? Come on. Even people with marginal street smarts wouldn't say "what'ya gonna do, shoot me" to someone with a gun pointed at their face. You have to be some tough-ass Jules Winnfield badmotherfucker to say something like that down the barrel of a gun--or careless.

The fact that the mugger pulled the trigger after being taunted--why is that surprising? And what's wrong with pointing that out? That's all; apologies for the long-winded explanation of such an obvious thing.

I agree with you moe! It's okay to kill people when they challenge you to do it. There should be a law protecting murderers if the victim challenges them!

And, hoo boy, with your firm grip on statistics, you must make a killing gambling!

Rose, when in a social setting and approaching someone new, people often break the ice with introductory converstation, also known as "small talk."

There are some questions that occasionally come up when you're talking to a stranger in a social environment. Examples are "what do you do" or "what music do you like," "what do you do for fun," "where are you from" which often leads to "which neighborhood are you from," which lead to my response of "I live on the Lower East Side." You've never had anyone ask you if you lived in the neighborhood before?

NYC is as safe as it will ever get. But the reality is that if you're dumb enough to talk back to someone who just pistol whipped your boyfriend and say "What are you going to do, shoot me?" I'm sorry but it's not shocking what happened.

Also, I really want to understand why her boyfriend--after being pistol whipped--was walking about a block ahead of her and left her behind with the kids who did this? What boyfriend and future fiance pulls that kind of action at 3:00AM and when faced with danger?

This really all sounds quite suspicious and I think the full story of what really happened needs to be told. Something is definitely missing. I seriously wonder if this was a drug deal gone bad. It's the only way I can think anyone who behave this way under such circumstances.

Why were people asking you where you live? Were these complete strangers since perhaps people who know you know where you live? Did you have a sign on anywhere that said to ask where you live?

As per the NY Daily News, they arrested someone.

Let's hope they got the guy. I imagine the family would feel better knowing the guy was caught.

This whole weekend, whenever someone asked me where I lived (the Lower East Side), they'd respond "Oh, do you feel safe?" blah blah blah. Considering there are over 600 murders a year in NYC, statisically it's bound to happen at some point or another.

I actually feel safer now walking around the LES, just because statistically I have quite some time before another murder happens--and when that time comes, I'll have the chance to say "hey pussy, you aren't really gonna shoot me with that gun you're waving, are you?"

Incidents like these will do wonders to the real estate values of some of these new buildings downtown, like the Garfield building.

"baggy clothes" against "baggy clothes"

i love how people codify others. don't wonder out loud next time you get fucked with. don't complain either. people hear your thoughts and dislike everything about your "hipster" kind.

These incidents are also occuring in Williamsburg, not against hipsters, as far as I know, "baggy clothes" against "baggy clothes". But on Hooper and Broadway at least once a week, during the night, there are all kinds of violent scenes.
Only last week a man got stabbed, another beaten up with a metal stick for his wallet, and the two robbers jumped into a fancy car! The police only arrived to the scenes minutes later. And when there are women fighting they just watch. What is going on with the police?

Robert Morgenthau and his office will and should go after the killer and all accomplices once they are caught. And they will be caught. Oh, yes, they will.
