I really dig the old-school Mac OS 9 diagram! Killer old un-antialiased Times and Geneva in lovely, crispy small point sizes. Sorry, just having a little typegasm... Does anyone know what app may have been used to make this? Could it actually have been some version of MacDraw? Does anyone have a link to the full-size original?

The comment when this was first reported that the rooms can't be fireproofed was hysterical. Has anyone ever heard of fire suppression systems using fluorocarbon gases like Halon 1301 (although Halon itself is now banned because of the ozone layer)? You can find them in any serious equipment room, except those run by the MTA.

most have probably already seen them, but the documentary film 'dark days' and the book 'the mole people' are both great to get a sense of how people live under the city. they also hilight how incredibly easy it would be for a determined criminal to infiltrate the subway system.
