A strange murder in the Bronx yesterday: A teenager was stabbed and her cousin was killed by the girl's boyfriend, apparently prompted over disagreements regarding the girl's new pitbull puppy. Samuel Encarnacion stabbed 16 year-old Ophelia "Mookie" Torres as well as 20 year-old Johnny Torres and dumped the knife and clothes. He went to a neighbor's apartment, claiming someone else had attacked them, but was apprehended by the police. Encarnacion's confession said that he attacked them because they wouldn't let him play with the puppy, who they were trying to train (Encarnacion and Ophelia Torres fought, Johnny Torres stepped in); relatives of Torres say that Ophelia was trying to break up with him. The weird thing is that the puppy is now living with Encarnacion's relatives; according to the NY Times story, the neighbor was given the dog, but then gave it to Encarnacion's family when they asked for it.

Anyone can guess on the psychology, but I read "Encarnacion" as encarceration several times to my own amusement.
It disgusts me on several levels. Violence and murder for stupid reasons is bad enough.
My brother has a bull terrier, and they can be really loving...especially when their owners are not scumbags.
i'm not sure what the case is here, but it's safe to say that the ASPCA should make sure the family is a bit more stable than Mr. Encarnacion himself.
at least nothing happened to the puppy.
I wonder Why the NYPD turned the puppy over to the suspects family?
Seems Odd to me.
These violence involving young teens always make me wonder what kind of family upbringing, or lac thereof, did these kids have.
I miss my pit :(
Wow, I couldn't even pay attention to the story there because that puppy is so freaking cute.
What planet is it okay for people to be like that?
