I absolutely love the repore between Sue and Chuck. Having watched them from their inception to everytime I move back East, I know have this constant. Isn't funny how gossip rags really steer clear of our News Personalities(local)? Thats cool.

Wow! This is like revisiting my chidhood.l Live at Five was such a great format -- wish they'd bring it back cause it showed people in a very honest way. Sue Simmons has alway shad tons of personality despite or perhaps because of her many gaffs & blunders. She seems to have had an interesting upbringing. A real NY'er -- not many of those around these days.

Jen's right. Sometimes, Sue looks like she's totally about to unhinge on-air. All of my friends have commented on this. For example, a reporter will finish some asinine, fluff news piece and Sue will get this look on her face that is priceless. Like she knows it was an asinine, fluff piece, but can't really say anything about it. It's kind of hard to describe. But she is my favorite local news anchor by far. She and Chuck are great.

That's awesome. I was watching Capturing the Friedmans the other day (a docu about a LI family torn apart by, among other things, a sex abuse scandal in the late 80s) and the local news broadcast was anchored by none other than Chuck Scarborough with a full head of hair. I'm a relative NY newbie so I had no idea they'd been around so long.

That's hilarious about Sue, Moe, because sometimes she seems close to unhinged on the broadcasts. But these days, she and Chuck are my favorites, though I remember a long stretch of time when I watched Ernie Anastos and Michelle Marsh on CBS 2 (my parents decided the newscasts in the family).

Having grown up in the tri-state area, there can be no greater cultural constant than Chuck and Sue. Wars, natural disasters, Presidents, Mayors, whatever--Chuck and Sue were always there to report on the latest NYC and tangential national and world news. Bonus to Jen for noticing such a momentous anniversary.

When I went to a live taping of Live at 5 for journalism class (the professor was married to the news director), Sue could not have been a more wacky, fun personality. but the pro that she is, she could flip the switch on a dime when it came to serious news.
