I loved "Fat Pig"... Ashlie is a friend of mine (she's a derby girl), and I thought she was amazing.

Not as good as Gothamist says it is. Predictable as all get out if you've seen any Labute before. But that's not even the main problem with the show. This is the first Labute show to not have any balls. McCarthy's character is as brutally honest and jerky as you can get, but he doesn't come close to saying anything we haven't heard before about fat people. This is a play that has nothing new to say about anything, and with another Labute play opening at the Public later this year, Fat Pig seems like something he wrote between, well, meals.
