George Gets a Bigger Unit

The holiday gift for the Yankees came a little late, but just in time for the new year, as the Yankees finally acquired Randy Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The two teams have been trying to get together for several months, with talks heating up after the season. The on again, off again, on again, off again deal is finally done, which means Gothamist can finally stop writing about it. The Yankees can now boast one of the best pitching rotations in the league and are arguably the team to beat.

To get Johnson, the Yankees shipped Javier Vazquez, Brad Halsey, Dioner Navarro, and $9 million in caaaash money. The Daily News reports that the trade will push the Yankee payroll over $200 million with pitching accounting for nearly $100 million. Is this just the rich get richer or a pitching renaissance in New York with Pedro and Randy? Of course, the Yankees still have to beat the Red Sox.

Glad to have Johnson... although, after seeing him in the Peanut Butter aisle at the Gelson's Encino I have to say he is the ugliest man in baseball...

That said, mark my words on this one... Brad Halsey will be back!

There's goes his mullet and moustache!

Apparently Johnson/Yanks will be facing Schilling/Red Sox on opening day. That will be a good one.
