Baio In TV Charge Once Again

Oh. My. God. Brooklyn-born Scott Baio is coming back to television, thanks to a sitcom deal with NBC. While the description of the show is "Baio as a fortysomething who moves in with a guy in his 20s and turns his life upside down," Gothamist can only think of it as "Charles in Charge, The New Millennium" or "Joey, Without Drea DeMatteo." Gothamist should have known that Diagnosis Murder would not be your last TV gig. Though Baio is known to many as Chachie, he is beloved in many Gen Xers' hearts as Charles In Charge, the show that brought millions of teen boys dreams of Nicole Eggert and Erika Eleniak; Baio also dated both, and in Eggert's case, it was a little weird since he'd played her "male governess" but it's not as gross as Don Johnson dating Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, who played his daughter on Nash Bridge. Anyway, Gothamist hopes that the new show will have an awesome theme song, because if there's one thing missing from today's television, it's a singable theme song; you can download the various "Charles in Charge" theme songs here.

Jump the Shark on Charles In Charge, and Charles seemed to be a student at Rutgers in NJ, later getting into Princeton for graduate school. And did you know that Al Burton, one of the men behind the ridiculously catchy and helpful theme song for Charles In Charge, also had a hand in the theme songs for Diff'rent Strokes and The Facts of Life? Way!

Any mention of "Charles in Charge" should prompt reflection on Willie Aames's (Buddy Lembeck) career turn as Christian superhero, Bibleman.

Who does he do battle against? Torah Man (they used to fight on the same team, but now...)? DevilGirl? The Upanishad Kid?
