Best Thompson Posts of 2004

As 2004 stumbles to a close, many of our blogger buddies have begun churning out their "Best of 2004" lists. For instance, Jason Kottke has already gotten up on the board twice. First, he penned his "Favorite Weblogs of 2004" (Gothamist just barely scraped in at #10; and aimless? For shame, Mr. Kottke. We have a clear aim: being occasionally awesome.) Always the overachiever, Kottke rang in a second time with "Best Links of 2004" (note to Gawker: Jason Kottke secretly loves... Malcolm Gladwell!) Anyway, Gothamist is super-competitive, so without further ado, our latest "best-of" list: the top ten blog posts featuring Thompson the cat:

2004_12_catgoth2.jpg10. Thompson Live
9. Thompson on the Mend
8. Thompson is Doing Well

6. Thompson's New Look
5. Even More Thompson

  • I completely understand the compulsion to photograph one's cat -- check this out (http://homepage.mac.com/feinso.......

  • Hold on - a scandal is brewing! Somehow the Thompson YM Interview got demoted to #4. Clearly the interview was the best Thompson post of 2004. I demand a recount.

And yes, I have too much free time at work today.

  • okay, onto serious conversation here: obviously, "thompson's new look" should have scored MUCH higher on the top ten list... c'mon, thompson in homemade ugg boots? at least #4.

btw, why is there no #3 on this list? is there a secret thompson entry readers don't know about? ;)

I agree with the Capt. Short hairs rule! Though I must admit, Thompson is cute.

  • I'm going to make you pay me a nickel for every usage of "occasionally awesome," you realize?

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS GOTHAMISTS.

  • Captain Midnight

Persians. Feh. No thanks. Shorthairs rule.

clearly, it's not "cat people" that are insane, just Jake Dobkin.

  • S.D.

    "Goth" Sites? Scary thought...

  • S.D.

As I constantly tell my Fiancé, We Cat people *are* an eccentric bunch...

    ;)

I think Thompson would make a fine mascot for Gothamist. I'm parttial to My cat Harry myself...

  • ellen, clearly, it's a little of both.

  • I can't decide whether this roundup has convinced me that I really need to get a cat or that cat people are insane.

  • im polling our contributors right now to see if they have pets. i think that 2 of them have babies.. not sure how furry they are, though.

  • rachelle thinks all the goth sites should adopt official mascots. i challenge any of our other cities to produce a cuter specimen than thompson. the gauntlet has been thrown down, suckas!
