Subway Worker Killed On The Job

2004_12_subwaynewkirk.jpg

Yesterday afternoon, a subway worker was killed by an oncoming B train at the Newkirk Avenue station. Harold Dozier, who was to celebrate his 13th year working for the MTA today, had been collecting work flags at the end of his shift and seemed to have gotten stuck on the tracks. The NY Times reports that Dozier was decapitated; it also noted that passengers on the B train "didn't feel anything" when it hit him. This is the 21st subway worker death in the past 20 years (the last being in January 2003, when a conductor who had stuck her head outside the window was struck by a metal fence).
