A few announcements from Gothamist HQ:
1. We've been working hard on a number of upcoming features for Gothamist, including our new politics beat (just in time for the 2005 Mayoral Election!) We've also got a bunch of events in the works, including Movable Hype 1.5, Movable Hype 2.0, a February Happy Hour, and a couple of upcoming discussion panels. Email Jen if you want to get involved with writing for Gothamist or planning Gothamist events.
2. In response to recent developments in the blogosphere, we've put up an official policy page, which clearly states our positions on comments, image-use, and other ethical issues. It would be a big help to us if you could read the page, and tell us if you see anything that is missing or needs to be changed- leaving a comment on this post is one good way to do that.
3. New cities: we are currently hard at work on our Bostonist and Parisist sites, and in the early stages of Seattlest and Phillyist. Email Jake if you want to be involved with any of the new cities as an editor or contributor.
Finally, all of here at Gothamist would like to wish you a happy and healthy holiday season!

also, i'm still looking for a basketball contributor. if interested, email me (tien at gothamist dot com). thanks.
I am curious about your image-use policy -- did you change your M.O. recently, b/c it seemed for a long time that you guys sorta indiscriminately used other people's images in your entries. It seems like there were lots of entries in the past that used images from the NYT, the Post, Getty, etc that weren't intended as parody, etc....maybe you had agreements beforehand or understand fair use better than I do, but I was always curious about that....
'Parisist'? that sounds awful. How about 'Pariviste' ?
Parisite?
Why is NY the only city to get a nickname in its 'ist' site (i.e., gothamist)? Why not beanist for Boston or friscoist for san fran, etc.?
"pariviste" is great!
Oh man. "SFist" is bad, but not as bad as "Friscoist." We San Francisco born-and-raised don't take kindly to the "Frisco" moniker. It's the equivalent of Crazy Crab running around the field at a Giants game...
Well, for one thing, New Yorkers have actually been known to call their city "Gotham" from time to time. The only people who call San Francsico "Frisco" don't live there; same with Bostonians and "Beantown."
Now, Bahstanist, on the other hand, could have some legs...
Hmm... ElLayist, SecondCityist, Canuckist?
