The Apprentice 2 Near Its Annoying End

2004_12_donaldgrump.jpg

Gothamist will refrain from commenting about who was fired from last night's penultimate Apprentice 2 episode, lest we anger some of our friends and readers who had things to do last night, unlike us who watched with horror as events unfolded. We will instead point out that it's hilarious that this year, Donald Trump won't entrust running events at one of his companies/resorts/casinos as the final task. Instead, GE (owner of NBC Universal) subsidiary Genworth, a rebranded financial company who wants to "raise its profile," must endure the less-than-competent machinations of the Apprentice wannabes for Genworth events. And we like to say the shrill screeching from last night's boardroom is still trilling in our ears. Thanks, Jen and Sandy.

We love that Sesame Street will be spoofing the Apprentice when its new season starts in April of next year. The AP caption for this photo is "Donald Grump meets Donald Trump." And we echo the thoughts of Television Without Pity, who made a point about the fact that Ivana was booted from the final five, which is where Troy was booted last year, shows how this year's talent pool is much thinner. This season has been compelling due to annoyingness. Last year's Bill and Kwame matchup was much better; at least we had people to root for.

  • Holy cow! I don't watch the Apprentice and totally missed the boat on this! I used to know Ivana! I met her in the spring of 2000 when she worked at ABS Capital Partners, at one of their investor conferences in Phoenix. I got to go on a hike in the desert with her. Now she's been fired and I totally missed my opportunity to brag about it while it was relevant.

She looks good on TV, but she's really very beautiful in person.

  • Alison

I hated how they picked one man and one woman. Why couldn't they just let the best two candidates go up against each other. I mean seriously Kelly is okay but Jen in the Final 2. Unbeliveable!

  • Michael

The first year I watched every episode. This year...the Apprentice is stale...stale..stale...

Donald...get your thinking toupee on and come up with a new idea. The second year is a loser.

  • it's sad, i swore this season off, then watched one episode and had this burning hatred of jennifer that i'm now hooked again. sigh.

  • Free Kevin

Kevin was robbed! He was the best one there.

  • I thought it was going to be a repeat boys only showdown which may have been interesting, but the final women just seem not strong at all to me.

Usually the talent pool grows the second season, but I guess it just turned out to be people who wanted the fame. You kinda see this on other reality shows, like the Amazing Race where it has gone from a show of hard working people trying to win a great price, to a suite of Models and Actors and Rich Spa owners, just looking to get their 15 minutes.

Is there really anything to decide in the final board room? I was wondering what their teaser hints to. It seems pretty obvious that West Point is going to pull through. Unless Raj's bowtie does him in.
