Our friends at Broadway's The Good Body, the Eve Ensler one-woman show, have alerted us to an enticing series of talkbacks that started Wednesday night. An interesting and eclectic mix of talking heads, feminists, movie stars, and so forth have been booked to give their takes on the show. Gothamist really dug this show and wants to go back and hear Gloria Steinem's take on this piece on feminine body image and the challenge of confronting society's expectations, as well as our own. We're also curious to hear Isabella Rossellini's take on the show and the ideas it explores, since she is one of the 'characters' portrayed by Ensler in the show, and in the show has a lot to say on the subject at hand. Here's the list of talkbacks booked so far: (with more dates to be added):
Friday, December 10 (following 8pm perf.)
- Azar Nafisi (author of Reading Lolita in Tehran)
Saturday, December 11 (following 8pm perf.)
- Gloria Steinem
Thursday, December 16 (following 8pm perf.)
- Laura Flanders (of Air America)
Thursday, December 23 (following 8pm perf.)
- Julia Stiles
Sunday, January 9 (following 3pm perf)
- Isabella Rossellini
The Good Body is currently playing At Broadway's Booth Theatre in a limited engagement through January 16. The talkbacks will take place onstage following the performance and, for security reasons, only ticket holders for that performance will be allowed to participate.

FYI, the good body is to end on jan 2. so says the ny times.
"t has been a bad week for a bundle of shows on Broadway. Three productions announced their impending closings on Tuesday, including "Dracula, the Musical," and Eve Ensler's one-woman show, "The Good Body," both of which will end on Jan. 2. Each will close at a loss."
"When "The Good Body" completes its run at the Booth Theater on Jan. 2, it will have played 27 previews and 56 regular performances."
must not have been very good...
You mean people aren't lining up to see some old bag drone on about her fat ass? Sounds like a winner to me.
Two retarded comments in a row. You think a show that's closing early "must not have been very good"? Riiiight...because the shows with the most commercial viability are always the ones with the highest artistic quality.
"You mean people aren't lining up to see some old bag drone on about her vagina?"
See how stupid that comment is?
Of course the shows with commercial viability aren't always the ones with the highest artistic quality. But the opposite is also true. Just because some people were stupid enough to sit through hours of twat-talk doesn't mean it was a great show. When Ensler does a four hour show about her armpits you will probably be first in line.
I've got to say, I loved the Vagina Monologues, but I just saw The Good Body and it was total crap. For something that was lauded as a feminist commentary on body image, it was dissapointingly self-indulgent and completely classist and racist.
