New Series Of Touring Asian Films
Asian CineVision, the folks who present the Asian American Film Festival in conjunction with the Asia Society every year, have recently launched a new touring series of Asian films. Playing in a number of reperatory venues in Boston and New York, the first movie, Men Suddenly in Black, screens tonight at Cinema Village.
Starring Tony Leung Ka Fai (from Ashes of Time, but not the Tony Leung from In The Mood For Love) who won a best supporting actor award at the 2003 Hong Kong Film Awards, and directed by Ho Cheung Ping who won the best director, it follows the story of four friends who decide to cheat on their spouses while the wives are away on vacation. ACV describes it as "deftly mixing the absurdity of screwball comedy with the fast and furious action of HK thrillers."
The Cinema Village is at 22 E. 12th Street, and the film begins at 7 pm. Tickets cost $7 for ACV members and $9 general.
