Nets Mired in Last

While the Knicks enjoy their stint as the best in the Atlantic, their cross-river rivals toil in last place with a 3-12 record. Last night, they performed as their record might suggest, falling to the Wizards, 95-68. Sounds like a thrilling game for those at the MCI Center. The loss was their 10th in 11 games, and the team was held to under 70 for the 4th time this season. The Nets also set franchise records for futility last night with 7 assists (ties a record low) and only 20 field goals (record low).

The game may have been bad, but it was nowhere as bad as the game they had against the Blazers earlier this season. On the bright side, Jason Kidd, who has been out since off-season surgery, is scheduled to practice Friday and may play as soon as Saturday. It could serve as a much spark for the Nets, but the wise Richard Jefferson said, "Just because it's close to happening, Jason's not going to solve all our problems. We still have a lot of problems on this team we need to fix."

They're not really "injured". They're really spies for their respective national teams. As I type this, they're sneaking off to practice with their national teams and give them some good pointers on how to beat them Americans at their own game.

Also not good: Their Eastern European players are both injured! And they are supposed to be the future of the team!

The return of Kidd will help this team. The current Nets point guards are not getting their teammates involved. They dribble way too much and can't shoot, so they could at least try to get others involve. And onto a bigger sports topic today, Giambi admitting steroid use in his grand jury testimony. There's just way too much negativity in the sports these days with the NHL lockout, the brawl in the NBA, and the lack of strict drug testing policy in MLB.
