Early this season when the Giants were 4-1, Tiki Barber was being talked about as an M.V.P. candidate and Tom Coughlin looked like a possibility for coach of the year. After yesterday’s 27-6 loss to Philadelphia, the Giants are now 5-6 and are the disappointment that they were predicted to be before the season began.
Yesterday, Eli Manning, who continues to have to run for his life, completed only 6 passes for 148 yards and threw two interceptions. Manning looked alright in the first half, but the Giants twice settled for field goals instead of touchdowns including an intercepted pass into the end zone late in the half. In the second half he was terrible.
Overall, the Giants looked even worse in this game than they did in their season opening 31-17 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia. This team just looks bad regardless of who’s playing quarterback. That being said, this is how we thought things would turn out and, actually, this team has one more win than it did during all of last year. Just a little holiday optimism from Gothamist.

they looked like they were wearing their practice jerseys during that game.
any realistic Giants fan, or football fan, knew this season was likely a wash. Brutal loss? We were beaten by the best team in the NFC (maybe the NFL?), it was not surprising. Concidering the injuries that are piling up and the QB change I'm surprised anyone would talk about the the remaining games like we've got anything but next season to play for.
"brutal loss"? it didn't change the course of the Giants season, they were never going to make the playoffs... just another loss.
