Giants Offensive Line Redefines Terrible

Gothamist really wants Eli Manning to succeed, but we also think that this is going to be a long Sunday for the young quarterback. The Eagles come to the Meadowlands with a chance at clinching the N.F.C. East with a victory. The Giants are hoping to avoid going under .500 for the first time since losing their season opener to the Eagles by 31-17.

The Eagles have yet to lose a game to an N.F.C. opponent and their defense is tied for the fourth most sacks in the league with 29. Jevon Kearse has a team high seven quarterback takedowns on the year and you can bet that he and his mates are licking their chops at the thought of going up against the Giants’ brutal offensive line. The Giants have given up 41 sacks – that’s second most in the league. The Bears have given up 43, but have played one more game.

You don’t believe us that the Giants’ offensive line is bad? Fifteen times the Giants have had a third down situation with 2 or less yards to go. How many times have they gotten the first down? Seven. That’s 46.7 percent and that’s third worst in the league. Brutal. We can’t imagine a scenario where the Giants come out of this game with a win, but we’ll still watch and we’ll root for Eli Manning not to break himself.

Yeah, but that's why we considered this to be a losing year for these guys. Because we KNEW the O-line was no good. We knew that no QB, save God or Marino, was going to have any kind of a decent year if the guys up front amounted to a little more than a speed-bump for the onrushing defense.

Hey, we already have one more win than all of last year. Is that any consolation?

Accorsi needs to get some talent on the line in the offseason. It's a MUST.
