WTC Collapse Did Cause Health Problems

According to preliminary findings from the World Trade Center Health Registry, people who were near the WTC on September 11 or worked in the recovery effort have had respiratory and/or psychological problems. Yes, it's no huge surprise considering what happened (the city's two tallest buildings, two commercial airplanes, thousands of people), but the NYC Department of Health calls the findings confirmation that "tens of thousands of registry enrollees reported significant respiratory and mental health symptoms." The WTC Registry hopes to monitor people for the next 20 years, as well as use the information to treat victims of other incidents (like large fires or accidents).

See if you should enroll in the WTC Health Registry. And four the remaining ex-presidents, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton, will be the honorary leaders of the WTC Memorial, which will open in 2009.

The days after 9/11 were just ridiculous in the way that the DEP claimed the air was perfectly safe. I think anyone with a clue knew they were lying. Totally unacceptable.

I lived on orchard just above delancey on 9/11 and the WTC Health Registry doesn't consider that area a significant part of their study. If you look at the images from the day, that cloud was traveling through my apartment. And the weeks after, I was constantly nauseous from the fumes. The article in New York magazine a few weeks ago scared the shit out of me.

I think they should open up their study a little more. I definitely was inhaling the toxic fumes from outside their map zone.
