New Cookbooks -- Just in Time for the Holidays

Gothamist is always in the market for a new cookbook, especially with Thanksgiving just around the corner. Here are a few suggestions that might inspire you to try a new recipe and impress your holiday guests later this week.

Jamie Oliver; Photo - Youngna ParkJamie Oliver, also known from his early TV series as The Naked Chef, has released his fifth book, Jamie’s Dinners. With an emphasis on family cooking, fast cooking, and fun cooking, his latest book is littered with images of happy babies munching on “sarnies” (sandwiches) and photos of Jaime racing around the British version of our Union Square Greenmarket, the Borough Market. Jamie always whips together a delicious, fresh meal in a matter of minutes offering time-savers that will make your holiday cooking move swiftly.

Nigella Lawson; Photo - Youngna ParkNigella Lawson, the British born domestic goddess, has also released her fifth cookbook, Feast, just in time for the holidays. Complete with sections on what to eat at Thanksgiving, Hanukah, and Christmas, Lawson also has plenty of tips for all types of occasions including birthdays, Sunday brunches, and even appropriate foods for a funeral.

Magnolia Bakery, Gothamist’s favorite stop for a late night cupcake craving, recently released their second cookbook, More From Magnolia : Recipes from the World Famous Bakery and Allysa Torey's Home Kitchen. Torey, the owner of Magnolia, follows up her first cookbook with new recipes like Devil’s Food Cupcakes with Caramel Frosting, and Heavenly Hash Ice Cream Pie. You might only think of cupcakes when you hear the name Magnolia, but the new book has something for any sugary craving.

Other new cookbook favorites include Workin’ More Kitchen Sessions with Charlie Trotter and the encyclopedic Gourmet Cookbook, which, with over 1,000 recipes, has something that anybody can make for this holiday season.

Since this is Gothamist, don't forget that one of New York's own, Anthony Bourdain, has his Les Halles Cookbook.

You're absolutely right! We mentioned that one last week -- we certainly can't forget Mr. Bourdain.

I'm just waiting for the day when Giada De Lauentiis' cookbook comes out. What a hottie ;)

Yeah -- this is definitely the hottie cookbook post -- I'll admit to having a little crush on Jamie Oliver.
