L.I. Teens Use Frozen Turkeys For Cruelty

Hearing about the Long Island kids who critically injured a woman by throwing a frozen turkey at her car made Gothamist happy that we don't live in the suburbs anymore. Now, our fair shair of insane stuff happens in the city, but being bored in the suburbs leads to crazy stuff like this. The group of teenagers were arrested, after police traced the 20 pound turkey purchase to a credit card they stole. The victim is still in a coma, after almost every bone in her face was broken by the impact; the Daily News described the impact as being like "a bowling ball dropped from a 20-story building."

WHAT is the matter with these people?

I truly can't believe people could be so senseless. These people are our future.

Like I've often said, the suburbs are no place to raise a kid.

Hate to blow your suburbs theory, but back in 2001, while standing on the corner waiting for a cab outside "Vazac's" also known as "7B" because of it's location in Alphabet City, my friend got hit in the face by a flying plum. The impact resulted in a scratched cornea and a broken nose. We had to rush her to the emergency room and she had a series of surgeries afterwards. Nowhere near as serious as this incident, but the culprits were the same: dumb, bored teenagers. Kids are stupid because of inexperience and a false sense of immortality. I'm sure they feel like shit today. Oh and what about the city-raised genius who decided to subway surf and ended up killing himself? See?

I don't care where these kids live. I know a couple who's infant daughter was killed quite a few years ago when someone decided to throw a bowling ball onto the parkway where they were driving home. The bowling ball went through the windshield of the car and hit the baby. The person who did this only got seven years. These kinds of things happen too often because these kids learn that not that much is going to happen to them if they get caught. It's always the same.
They go to court and they say they are sorry and maybe they even cry and their parents cry claiming what good kids they are and it happens all over again. There needs to be stronger punishments for these crimes. Maybe then kids will think twice before throwing things at cars or doing anything else stupid or dangerous.
