Life Without Chad

Maybe it sounds like the title of another cheesy Lifetime network drama with Meredith Baxter Birney or Judith Light, but last season a loss of QB Chad Pennington led to a collapse that was all too serious for Jets fans.

Even with Pennington scheduled for a return within the next three weeks, Jets fans fell aghast at the team's second loss in a row, a 20-17 overtime loss at the hands of the visiting Baltimore Ravens and Matt Stover's foot.

On the bright side for those in Green it is a good sign that running back Lamont Jordan was intercepted more times than Pennington's replacement, Quincy Carter, yesterday. Defensively, an early goal-line stand set a nice tone on a day that didn't end nicely for the Jets.

The blame game recipients among the metro sports "media elite" (as well as every fan)? Look no further than Herm Edwards and 'clock management assistant' Dick Curl in the moments that led up to a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation. Gothamist will behave and resist the temptation to crank call Mr. Curl for reasons unrelated to football.

Herman Edwards's gutless call to kick the field goal instead of going for a T.D. was right out of the Denny Green handbook.

Also, what do you expect from an assitant coach named "Dick Curl"? HAHA!! His parents must have hated him.
