Earlier today, Russell Tyrone Jones, aka Ol' Dirty Bastard (as well as Osirus, Joe Bannanas, Dirt McGirt, Dirt Dog, Unique Ason, and Big Baby Jesus) collapsed in a Manhattan studio and died at the age of 35. O.D.B and his cousins the RZA and the Genius were founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan as well as a successful solo artist. Besides his successful career, O.D.B. will also be known for getting in trouble with the law. Ol' Dirty Bastard was to turn 36 on Monday.
The cause of death remains unknown, but he is reported to have complained about chest pains earlier in the day. He also missed a performance with Wu-Tang Clan on Friday night. His mother, Cherry, had touching words to say about him:
"My son, Russell Jones, passed away. To the public, he was known as Ol' Dirty Bastard, but to me, he was known as Rusty, the kindest, most generous soul on earth. I appreciate all the support and prayers that I have received. Russell was more than a rapper, he was a loving father, brother, uncle, and most of all, son."
Bon voyage, Ol' Dirty Bastard, bon voyage.

word. bon voyage.
Coke use did him in. He has had lots of problems with drugs. That with maybe an Irregular heartbeat, McD's Diet, who knows.
Sad
He didn't even go out like a true gangster.
He was also a deadbeat dad, arrested a few times for not paying child support.
I did not think it was funny that he died, but I did think it was funny that last night on the news they would only call him "O.D.B." and never, "Old Dirty Bastard". They even went so far as to say, "His real name was, "Russell Jones," and I screamed at the T.V., "No it wasn't! It was Old Dirty Bastard!"
Sad to hear. Rest in Peace.
And mike, maybe he was a deadbeat dad. Now he's dead. He can't earn money for child support and his kids are fatherless.
From what I understand, his kids were already without a father. At least now they'll get the money.
Mike, a human being is dead. And everyone has a chance to redeem and change themselves. Even people I know who have shitty parents still cry when their parents passed away or get ill.
So show some basic respect towards the death of a human being regardless of race or background. Otherwise, take your shit to the toilet and flush it.
shimmy shimmy yall shimmy yeah shimmy yay/ gimme the mic so i can take it away/ off on a natural course bon voyage/ yeah from the home of the Dodgers, Brooklyn squad.........you can't even touch my skillz!
we lost a unique talent and artist. Who among us should be judged by our personal decisions? ODB made great records and for that, I will miss him.
xoxo
At the end of the show on Friday night, the crowd was chanting for him - the RZA asks us "who's not here, y'all" and we respond, "O!D!B!". He calls back to us - "all right, if any y'all motherfuckers see him, tell him his family misses him and wants him back."
Yeah. We do.
Well, the first thing I would say is, God Bless his Soul.
word up G Dub
Yeah, The ODB's life came to a close so early. Rip-I'll be in the Mix for You man.

As a member of the immediate family, I would first like to thank the public for their support and messages of condolences sent during this unfortunate time. I will not respond to the sensational journalism my family and I have had to endure over the past few days. What I will say is " he made an impact on those who sought more than commercial hip hop, he was an innovator and his raw style of delivery will be missed. We respect the opinions of supporters and non-supporters and welcome their comments, but at the end of the day, they too were impacted by his presence because they took the time to voice their opinion."
o.d.b. was great...........talented individual and will be greatly missed by anyone who appreciated him! remember the 98 mtv awards!! dirty u was crazy 1 love to u and your famz dawg....lovinu and da wu 4ever
wu tang is the most prolific group of all time. R.I.P O.D.B a.k.a Big baby jesus a.k.a joe bananas a.k.a dirt mcgirt a.k.a Osirius
i just want to say that i am sorry for o.b.'s family and his kids my heart goes out to you. i am not writing this to reflect on the negative things that the press had hyped up. but i am going to remember the positive impact that he had on hip-hop legacy and he will be greatly missed!!!! when i found out that he passed i was in shock and i was upset, but then i started to pray and i know now that the lord has a higher purpose for him. i just thank God that he did'nt leave us by violent death. R.I.P. O.D.B. THE WU TANG CLAN AIN'T NOTHIN TO FUCK WITH!!!!!! MUCH TO YOU O.B.!!!!!!!!!

RIP ODB, WU TANG(arguably the greatest rap group) will never be the same.
R.I.P ODB.
Wu-Tang FOREVER!!!!!!
Damn Mike, you're really a big fuck! What the fuck is your problem man? YOU ARE THE PROBLEM, ol' dirty was a great rapper, and i loved him so fucking much! Wu-tang is the biggest and most important group of the hip hop history, and dirty has a very big part! The man was a genious, and had his very own unique rapflow, i love this man, and always will! SO FUCK YOU MIKE, AND FUCK ALLA YALL WHO'S DISSIN' HIM OR THE WU!
R.I.P. RUSSEL TYRON JONES!
I don't believe this is a time for your rude comments about his sexual preferences... have some respect for his loved ones. Rest in Peace ODB and many prayers for your family in this time of struggle...
Kristy
I also wants to say peace & thx to all of yall who loves dirty and the wu, it's so cool to read all the letters about how cool he was!!
For some of you who haven't heard Street Operas with Killah Priest... hear it! I cried when i heard that O.D.B. was dead, and then i heard that track!
- Even me, I learned as the days grew
that death is only a stage of phase 2,
thank Allah that he made you..
I truly agree w/ everyone about you soft pussy fuckers who disrespect someone who was a part of hip-hop history.i believed in Wu so much,i branded myself w/ the symbol.Ol dirty made an impact on how rap would change in the coming years and very much into now.Wu was real in all rap songs of the struggle, hard times, and seeing the light at the end of the road one day.Dirty made lots of things comical and controversial, but paved the way for people like Eminem and Trick daddy who speak the truth and made you think after the song about the message.I can not think of many other rappers who made so much sense in their 16 bars that he could take down 75% of rappers today
Thankx dirty for making Wu what it is and what it stands for today.for those of you young bitches who think Cash Money is something, pick up a WU-TANG ALBUM AND TELL ME WHATS FUCKIN BETTER MUSIC
WU-TANG FOREVER AND EVER...RIP PLOA!!
RIP ODB, u were one of the best rappers i've ever seen in this world, a legend , and i think even if u had a lot of problems with law , a great person... Another soulja has just died and i hope u'll get to heaven ...
RIP ODB , u 'll be forever in our heart
I am praying for the family, no matter what he was to others, remember....SOMEBODY loved him and he was something to them. Kojak, would it have been better if he was shot 26 times and died that way? (Goin' out like a true gangsta) Or just going when he was CALLED!
i loved odb. he was honest with his shit. that is
what people need to respect. if don't want honesty don't listen to his music. then again we as fans feel like we know him, but let us have at least this time to shine off what we do know of him. if he couldn't rest in life, let the man rest in peace. love you o.d.b. you will be missed
ODB REST IN PEACE MAN YOU WAS CRAZY FOR REAL
May God be with you and your family,my thought,s are with you all,be strong ok,R.I.P Russel Tyrone Jones- B.K.A O,Dirty Bastard

Who can say they do everything right by their children?
If you do you are only lying ot yourself
As for the rap game, he was one of N.Y. finest
from early Wu-Tang to his solo albums, his voice jumped out and said "wake up america" while his personality punched you in the face
For this, he will surely be missed
rip to old dirty bastard it a very sad day for hiphop
R.I.P old dirty bastard

"all right, if any y'all motherfuckers see him, tell him his family misses him and wants him back."
"Yeah. We do."

Rest in Peace Big Baby Jesus, now Jesus is who u entertain with a great powerful vocal rap. Rejoice in this time and all should remember Ol' Dirty as WU TANG FOREVER, MOTHAFUCKAS, cuz I know Jesus will bob his head to a Wu Tang track. Peace and blessings to all WU members, affliates, and fans. Dirty will be sorely missed. Everyone cop a R.I.P Dirty shirt right now.
You will never be forgotten. Your music took us to another level.
I bet you don't call yourself baby jesus no more, now that you have lifted your eyes in (HELL) like the rest of you so called rappers.
Rest In Peace Ol' Dirty. You will definitely be missed you. I am and will still be a WU HEAD 4 LIFE. Wutang Forever. . .!!!
Just want to say R.I.P. O.D.B. for his music was vibrant. I still sit and listen to his song with Mariah... *I love that song* As for the disrespectful people, no one can be the judge of who goes where when we die. You just worry that YOU won't lift your damn eyes in HELL...*you know who you are* And as for the other stupid comments, you do not know the situations that man faced while living in this cruel world. My father never raised me or sent me money but he's still my father and I'm pretty sure that O.D.B's kids feel the damn same. 1 Luv ppl (Ga's Brwn Sugga)
RIP ODB, i will always treasure your style and immense input to the hip hop world. you kept the music alive, we just wish you were still here as well. but your talent will live on through others, they will pick up the torch. damn, miss you and those sick ryhmes. all the people up in norcal and down here in diego send much love to your family. BROOKLYN ZOO !!!! this white m*ther f***er greatly appreciates what you gave!
Ol' Dirty Bastard was UNIQUE, loving, creative, intelligent, vibrant, energetic, sexy, strong, out-spoken, goal-setting and reaching. He should be remembered and respected for his legendary life and and talent. He brought a geniuneness to his music and hip-hop, it was refreshing, raw and real. His music will resonant for many, many years. His life has come to and END but his legacy will never ever DIE. RIP ODB, the Good always die young, you deserve a rest. I hope GOD Blesses your family and friends, because I'm sure your death has left a void that could never be filled.
RIP baby. My whole family and I send out our prayers and condolence. And you'll always be apart of our lives.
