Earlier today, Russell Tyrone Jones, aka Ol' Dirty Bastard (as well as Osirus, Joe Bannanas, Dirt McGirt, Dirt Dog, Unique Ason, and Big Baby Jesus) collapsed in a Manhattan studio and died at the age of 35. O.D.B and his cousins the RZA and the Genius were founding members of the Wu-Tang Clan as well as a successful solo artist. Besides his successful career, O.D.B. will also be known for getting in trouble with the law. Ol' Dirty Bastard was to turn 36 on Monday.

The cause of death remains unknown, but he is reported to have complained about chest pains earlier in the day. He also missed a performance with Wu-Tang Clan on Friday night. His mother, Cherry, had touching words to say about him:

"My son, Russell Jones, passed away. To the public, he was known as Ol' Dirty Bastard, but to me, he was known as Rusty, the kindest, most generous soul on earth. I appreciate all the support and prayers that I have received. Russell was more than a rapper, he was a loving father, brother, uncle, and most of all, son."

Bon voyage, Ol' Dirty Bastard, bon voyage.

Fuck Mike, Deena, and anyone one else who has anything bad to say about him, keep those fucked up thoughts to yourself, and have some decency and respect. Peace to the Wu-Tang family. Ol' Dirty Bastard was UNIQUE, loving, creative, intelligent, vibrant, energetic, sexy, strong, out-spoken, goal-setting and reaching. He should be remembered and respected for his legendary life and and talent. He brought a geniuneness to his music and hip-hop, it was refreshing, raw and real. His music will resonant for many, many years. His life has come to and END but his legacy will never ever DIE. RIP ODB, the Good always die young, you deserve a rest. I hope GOD Blesses your family and friends, because I'm sure your death has left a void that could never be filled.

Just want to say R.I.P. O.D.B. for his music was vibrant. I still sit and listen to his song with Mariah... *I love that song* As for the disrespectful people, no one can be the judge of who goes where when we die. You just worry that YOU won't lift your damn eyes in HELL...*you know who you are* And as for the other stupid comments, you do not know the situations that man faced while living in this cruel world. My father never raised me or sent me money but he's still my father and I'm pretty sure that O.D.B's kids feel the damn same. 1 Luv ppl (Ga's Brwn Sugga)

  • The Rap Phenomenon, The White

ODB was one bad mutha f@#%a

He spit s#&t like a shoe shine man

So what, he didn't take care of all his kids

Who can say they do everything right by their children?

If you do you are only lying ot yourself

As for the rap game, he was one of N.Y. finest

from early Wu-Tang to his solo albums, his voice jumped out and said "wake up america" while his personality punched you in the face

For this, he will surely be missed
