Telfair Returns to Area...and Plays!

Sebastian Telfair, product of Lincoln High in Brooklyn, made his return to the New York area last night as the Portland Trailblazers played the Brooklyn New Jersey Nets. While he hardly had a stellar game, he actually played, which hasn't happened much since the season started. Prior to last night, his only game action the young NBA season came last Friday when he played one minute and picked up an assist against the Clippers. Last night, he played the final 2:13 of the 1st half and notched his second career assist in front of 50 friends and family members.

Despite the lack of playing time, Telfair still has high hopes for the future, saying, "I don't accept nothing. I'm not getting comfortable with being on the bench."

For the Nets, Alonzo Mourning made his first start of the season and played 37 minutes and finished the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The Nets won the game 64-60, and their first home win of the season. The 60 points allowed was the lowest total the Nets have allowed in franchise history.

Nothing quite like an ugly game in East Ruterford. The 124 combined points is the 5th fewest in the shot-clock era and the combined 44 field goals is the lowest in NBA history.
