Adding to what Jenny said, the World Cup Stadium that was built in Seoul, S.K. was built right next to an old landfill. It is now an extraordinary, albiet oddly hilly, park. Everything should be fine, that is of course until you have the three feet worm reaching the surface and eating the seagulls. It'll all be fine...

i've been to that ski "area" and it's very much a hill. if you're skiing down at a leisurely pace, it doesn't take more than 30 seconds to go all the way down.

if you cover it up with park stuff, the smell goes away. there is a ski mountain [read: hill] in the Detroit 'burbs that was built on a landfill and there is no smell problem. The whole WTC debris thing bugs me more than what the smell would be like.

Aren't they concerned about the (undeniable) smell? You can't even drive past the landfill without it wafting in through the air vents of your car...
