A man reportedly despondent over President Bush winning reelection was found dead at Ground Zero, having killed himself with a shotgun. Andrew Veal, a 25 year-old man who worked at the University of Georia and as a chef at a restaurant in Athens, Georgia, somehow made his way into Ground Zero, though police and the Port Authority have not found any security breaches; a private security firm is in charge of Ground Zero security. No one even heard the shotgun going off; the NY Times reports that a hotel worker saw the body at around 8AM on Saturday morning. The papers initially seized upon reports from friends who thought his anger over Bush's reelection influenced his decision to pick Ground Zero, but now some think that his relationships with a fiancee and a different girlfriend may have been at the root, considering the note found on his body about his girlfriend being "too good" for him.

Whatever his motives -- one less Democratic voter in 2008. Works for me.
sigh...
A man tragically kills himself, and you rejoice at one less Democrat.
More than anything else, that paints a horrible picture of you.
No one should make light of this tragedy. It is one thing to laugh at the misery of the left, who deserve to suffer for their ugly campaign and for their embrace of disgusting types like Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky. Those of us on the winning side can and will rub it in their faces for years to come. But someone who is troubled enough to kill himself is no laughing matter. He should have moved to Canada.
Before this degrades into a political pissing match, we need to look at the issue of how exactly he got in there. If we can't even keep someone out of a hole in the ground surrounded by security and mostly 10-foot unscalable walls, how can we defend the buildings and subway in this city? And really, how could a guy with a shotgun get into a supposedly secure place like Ground Zero?
