Wanna Invest in New York Theater?

2004_11_artsstevesellsout.jpgTwo very disparate shows are looking for funding. Playbill reports that regular joes are being sought out for investments in Steve Sells Out, which is being funded by visitors to conceiver-performer Steve Luber's website.

Luber had the great idea to use the internet to help fund his project, and invites anyone and everyone to donate. Depending on the amount you contribute (which can be as little as 5 bucks), you can even have a creative voice on the show! Gothamist applauds Luber's ingenuity and enterprising attitude.

However, if you've got really deep pockets and want to invest some bigger bucks in a New York show, why not think about investing on Broadway? The Color Purple is being readied for Broadway and needs investors. They're only $8 million shy of the $10 million they need to get the show up. If you really want to learn how to be a big shot Broadway producer, there are many opportunities in this city which offer advice in the ins and outs. Good luck future moguls, and we'll see you opening night.
