Gothamist's Div. 1A Top 15

Because every election day need's a new football poll, here is this week's installment of the Gothamist Top 15 (last week's). Quite an interesting weekend, with the big three in Florida all losing. With six undefeated teams left, the BCS has some shaking out to do, especially if some of those teams pick up a loss.

1. Oklahoma – Well, so much for Ok. St. having trouble scoring on Oklahoma! OU got another great performance from RB Adrian Peterson and just barely got past their rival. Next up, a trip to Texas A&M – a revenge game for the Aggies after last year’s 77-0 loss.

2. Auburn – A little bit of a scare at Ole Miss, but pulled away late. Georgia looms in 2 weeks.

3. Southern Cal – Washington State is not very good, but for USC to destroy them on a cold, wet day was impressive. We’d like to move them higher, but at who’s expense? Oklahoma and Auburn are great teams too.

4. California – Had to move them ahead of Wisconsin, because we think the Bears would win if they played head-to-head.

5. Wisconsin – Just keep winning and Rose Bowl will be the worst-case scenario.

6. Texas – Other than Oklahoma, Texas has a big talent edge against every other team on their schedule, and that is the reason they have just 1 loss.

7. Tennessee – Should make it to the SEC title game before losing to Auburn again.

8. Utah – Keeps on rolling. Main question is, how long will coach Urban Meyer stay, and which lucky team will get him next?

9. Georgia – Finally got over the hump vs. Florida.

10. Michigan – After falling behind 27-10 and playing their usual brand of conservative, sideways-passing and running offense, UofM finally decided that it might be a good thing to throw the ball downfield to the best WR in the nation, Braylon Edwards. Surprise! 17 points in 3 minutes, and the eventual win in overtime in one of the most exciting games in recent Michigan Stadium history.

11. Miami – What happened to the defense? They’ve given up over 500 yards and 31 points each of the last 3 weeks and it finally came back to bite them. How can you lose to North Carolina?

12. Louisville

13. Boise State

14. Florida State

15. Virginia

Thanks for giving the Badgers some respect. They have no offense, excluding Anthony Davis, but the nastiest defense in the country. On Wisconsin.

OU and Auburn ahead of Southern California? Talk about East Coast bias.

So now we're ranking teams (why, hello there, Texas!) because they have a lot of talent despite not being able win the big games?

Wisconsin will probably end up running the table, and Cal's not bad, but how do you rank a 1-loss team ahead of an undefeated.

And Georgia at No. 9? Seriously?

You really think Auburn and Oklahoma could both beat So Cal?

I can't wait for the Orange Bowl so I can watch SC tear apart OK's defence: Handoff to Reggie Bush who throws to Matt Leinart for TD.
