Coolfer's Halloween Music Picks

In case somebody is reading Gothmamist at the hour on a Friday...

The droning, stoned-out Warlocks bring their multi-guitar rawk show to the Mercury Lounge tonight and tomorrow. On the bill tonight are Dead Meadow and Panthers. Tomorrow it's Dead Meadow and Vietnam. Both shows are highly recommended.

Tonight, the Bowery Ballroom hosts the buzzed-about Dresden Dolls.

Tomorrow tonight, the incredible Gogol Bordello hits Irving Plaza. Few who have seen them don't go away singing the band's praises. "Best live band ever" is often proclaimed. No joke.

Steve EarleFans of Steve Earle (pictured) will enjoy spending Halloween seeing Steve play the Bowery along with Tammy Faye Starlite. Tickets are $35 but well worth the price. Earle is an American icon and a terrific performer.

Another great Halloween show is the Fiery Furnaces at Maxwell's. Also on the bill is The Hidden Cameras. Tickets are a mere $13.

The Merc hosts a special Halloween show with Coastal Drag, Demander, These Bones and Sam Champion.

At Irving Plaza, Le Tigre plays with Gravy Train and Breaker Breaker Sunday and Monday. Even though Le Tigre's latest album has taken quite a few shots by both the press and bloggers, it's unlikely their live show will be as confused and toothless.

Be safe out there!

The Dresden Dolls. Yes.

actually, sam champion isn't playing at knit for our show. it's: the fresh, asobi seksu, snowden and sons of sound!

Uh..duh. I knew Sam Champion isn't playing the Movable Hype show. I've gotta lay off the drugs at the office.
