Not to worry, the project ain't happenin...Amtrak has decided not to be a tenant; they're trying to get NJT, but...

There's no money. No money for Penn Stations, 2nd Avenue Subways, Javits expansions, Jets stadiums, Nets stadiums, transit hubs, Olympics. No money, and a lot of NIMBYs.

Initial plans from two of the four developers - Related Companies and Vornado Realty Trust - showed a new sports arena, most likely a new Madison Square Garden, rising from within the walls of the western portion of the Farley building, near Ninth Avenue, a block west of where the Garden is now.

So in other words, this Penn Station will be as ass-ugly as the current one is.

Ahh, where did the good old days go when that area was seedy, Times Square seemed needy (need to see a peep show fella?) and Bryant Park dealers were greedy (nickel bag, nickel bag?). So, so long ago.
