One time on the C train, two women were sitting next to me and talking about an all female mountain climbing club called "Chicks with Picks." One of the women got off the train and at the same time another woman got on the train carrying a guitar. So I said to the other woman, "...speaking of 'Chicks with Picks.'" From there we started talking and subsequently dated. The moral of the story: keep your eyes open for opportunity.

I've heard sweet stories that involve handing a note (with your #) to your crush object on your way out of the train. A good idea for the very shy, but the timing & wording have to be right too . . .
