Gothamist's Div. 1A Top 15

A rare photo to accompany Gothamist's weekly top 15 rankings. War Eagle indeed. Later this week, we're going to give you a list of places to watch some of the teams on this list. Last week's list and the BCS Rankings are out.
1. Oklahoma – Kansas St. game probably should not have been that close, but somewhat understandable given the let-down after the Texas win. Jason White and Adrian Peterson give the Sooners a great one-two punch.
2. Auburn – Gothamist was in attendance at Jordan-Hare stadium this week for an up close look at the Tigers. They dismantled Arkansas and if QB Jason Campbell continues to play at such a high level, look out!
3. Men of Troy – Destroyed a solid Arizona State team this week, so obviously no let down after the big Cal win. A young team that will only continue to improve as the season moves forward.
4. Miami – Very fortunate to come back against Louisville after facing several 17 point deficits. Miami loses their concentration at times and allows lesser teams to stay with them or even build leads, and one of these days that will cost them dearly.
5. Wisconsin – Got some lucky breaks, but still a very impressive win at night on the road against a strong Purdue team. Injuries to their stud D-Line will be costly if they prove to be serious.
6. Florida State – Things can sure change in one weeks’ time in college football. 2 weeks ago they should have lost to a bad Syracuse team, last week they destroyed a good Virginia team. Go figure! Wyatt Sexton certainly appears to be an upgrade over Chris Rix though.
7. California – Deserve credit for a nice bounce back win over UCLA. Handled a disappointing loss much better than Minnesota, who laid down for Michigan State.
8. Texas – Got the win but didn’t look good. Will have their hands full with Texas Tech this week.
9. Tennessee – Going on the road at night in the SEC is always tough, so will Ole Miss isn’t very good that was a quality win for the Vols.
10. Utah
11. Georgia – Still not in sync. Just can’t figure out what’s wrong this team, but they are missing something. Expect another loss to Florida in the Cocktail Party this year.
12. Purdue – Heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin. Now, do they bounce back with a big win over Michigan, or will the devastating loss carry over to next week? If they are OK mentally, they will beat the Wolverines.
13. Michigan - Got the “W” but beating Illinois is hardly impressive. This team just has some serious flaws on the road and it starts with the coaching staff. Going to Purdue this week – this is a game UofM will likely lose unless Purdue is overly affected by last week’s disappointment. Still, freshman RB Mike Hart deserves major props for his 234 yard effort vs. the Illini.
14. Louisville – Had the major upset in the Orange Bowl but just couldn’t close the deal: fumbled snaps, dropped interceptions, etc. Very impressive performance though and a team on the rise. Coach Bob Petrino is a rising star.
15. Boise State – Needed some luck to defeat Tulsa, not exactly a powerhouse. But I’ll give them some credit for being undefeated.
