Thanks for the recipe--the almonds sound good. Minor quibble: I'd be a bit offended if my dining companion felt entitled to "protest" my appetizer. Especially if (s)he viewed a 1500-calorie butter/oil/potato/cheese/nut/cream salad as a more appropriate first course. Not that I'd comment at dinner--can't we all live and let live? And let table manners live, too?

Mmm, fondue. Fondue is a highly underrated meal, probably because it makes people full in under 5 minutes. So having a Salad with a small portion of fondue is a clever way to bring fondue into the everyday. Excellent!
