Even if you mess up and don't get exactly the right policy, it's so worth it. My apartment was robbed in the spring. I had renter's insurance and my roommate did not. My policy costs $8 a month. I got replacements for all of my electronics (totaling over $700) and money for my jewlery and other various items (over $2,000).
