Gothamist loves this photograph of an intersection at Atlantic Avenue from joe's nyc (we have cropped some of it here). It perfectly illustrates the madness of our different transit systems - streets and people that converge on subway systems. And as Gothamist read the comments, we found a link to a photo underneath the station's skylight and learned, "That's a new train station - there hasn't been time for anyone to get killed yet." Which reminds us - look both ways before crossing the street.

Actually, this triangle is more akin to the prairie dog bubbles one sees in our various zoos (er, conservation centers, sorry, I forgot). There isn't actually an entrance to the subway in this triangle; the subway entrances are at various nearby corners. (This triangle is formed by the intersection of Atlantic Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, and Fourth Avenue [?], for what it's worth.)
A deep, heart-felt thanks to Jen for linking to my below-ground shot. There's more to explore, don't miss my fire escape shots in the photo archives.
Love that skylight photo!
So have you seen some of our crazy roundabout systems in the UK? Sheer madness (but apparently they work)!
