For $3000, what does the segway offer that a $100 bike doesn't, besides being illegal and harder to lock up, and probably not lasting as long, and making you look like a complete dork? You can get little motors for a bike, you know. You could probably get about 10 of them for that price.

an interesting development: segway has developed dealerships to help people get financing when they purchase. they've started to realize that it's more like a little car when it comes to purchasing, and that means people need more options. but i don't think it has any possibility of taking off unless the city or state passes some rule that says you don't have to pay sales tax on the purchase or whatnot- to encourage enviro-friendly vehicles.
