Pols On Screen In Brooklyn

Always a film writer whose approach to criticism places the movies within their cultural context, it makes sense that J. Hoberman of the Village Voice would be interested in political movies during an election year. Tonight at BAM Cinemathéque he will present films that "give an insider’s look into America’s presidential campaigns."

At 6:50 pm will be a feature, Four More Years directed by TVTV Collective (1972) with the short, Campaign Manager (1964), directed by Richard Leacock. Then at 9:30 pm, Primary (1960) directed by Robert Drew followed by Feed (1992) directed by Kevin Rafferty and James Ridgeway. The films will be proceeded by an introduction by Hoberman.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music, Rose Cinemas is located at 30 Lafayette Avenue between Ashland Place and St. Felix Street, in Brooklyn. Tickets cost $10 general, $6 students and seniors.

For more politically minded film criticism, the theme of this quarter's Reverse Shot (an independent film journal based in New York) "Reverse Shot For President" deals with politics in movies, some of them very unlikely for a partisan slant.
