Seriously, now... think about it. You want to put cats in the subway system to get rid of the rats? How many cats do you think you can put down there before little kids waiting on platforms at 468 stations start to see kitty-carcasses mangled by passing trains?

I am afraid we are going to be seeing more and more feral and abandoned animals. I have been apartment hunting the last few weeks and I am shocked at how many places do not allow pets anymore. This was not a problem five years ago, fewer landlords allowing pets = more homeless animals.

There were cat gangs in American Tail (a much better version of Gangs of NY, I thought...)

Why would you subject a dog to the city? If you live a tiny urban apartment, try a cat. Plus you don't have to follow a cat around and pick up there shit, have some self respect. You can't have everything. Save the dog for when you have a yard.

Speaking of feral cats, there's a really scary story in this week's New York magazine about a wild pack of junkyard dogs that have been terrorizing a neighborhood on the west side for at least a year. It's online here.

Even though the pack has killed and maimed numerous neighborhood dogs, the city does nothing about it, with every city agency passing responsibility off to others. Typical.

I would Advise against putting Feral Cats in the Subways. What happens when the Feral cats get out of control after they eat all the rats?? Not to mention they're more likely to attack tunnel workers and spread rabies.
Then we'll have to release the hounds! Then what happens when the hounds get out of control???

Its a Spiral of Death to me. We need stronger mint flavored rat poison dammit.
