Had I not gone to the one cemetery, I wouldn't have known about the other. I think, and I hope I'm not making this up, they were associated at one point but they've long since gone their separate ways.

ohhh... joe, i was very confused about the two cemeteries... so similar in location and name! i'm definitely going on sunday.

There's two similarly named cemeteries in the EV. New York Marble Cemetery is on 2nd Ave between 2nd and 3rd. It's open the last Sunday of every month. I went a while back. It's an interesting place. New York City Marble Cemetery is around the corner on 2nd St between 1st and 2nd Aves. It is rarely open to the public.

the NY Marble Cemetery is having a free open house this Sat and Sun from 10-4. a cool October weekend thing to do, absorb local history, take some pics and check out some of the old tombs. it's on 2nd st in the EV - more info here... http://www.marblecemetery.org/directions/map.htm

This is such an awesome event. The weather looks to be beautiful, and I personally can't think of a better thing to do than check out the New York you have always wondered about.
