Cat Show Comes To Town

2004_10_catshow.jpg

To anyone who has a first date planned for this weekend, Gothamist has this suggestion: Woo him or her with a trip to the New York Cat Show. Okay, you might need to check in advance to see if they (or you) are allergic, or if they are cat-haters (we know you're out there), but for the most part, people enjoy seeing some of the most adorable as well as bizarre looking felines out there. The Daily News says the scenestealers will be cloned Bengal kittens, Tabouli and Baba Ganoush. The cloning company is Genetic Savings and Clone (of course!) who will offer cat cloning commercially at some point. But if shelling out big bucks for a cat isn't your bag, there will be AdoptaCat, with cats from shelters on hand for you to fall in love with.

Admission is $15 (but the AdoptaCat event is free), but there is a coupon for $2 off. We know one person who went to the cat show and came back with one - little did he know that this cat would rule his life. And for the allergic or architecturally inclined, there is Open House New York this weekend.

While I have absolutely no interest in attending the cat show, I must admit that their logo is pretty cute.

Word for the day: ailurophile. cheers to all in nyc...

I'll bet this freak show makes "Best in Show" look like "Triumph of the Will".
