A Wee Bit of Craic and Film Shorts

guin_glass.jpgThey pronounce it "crack" but when the Irish talk about craic, they really mean lively conversation not hardcore narcotics. Pints, craic and a few short films make for a very Irish kind of evening and this Thursday Film Fleadh presents "A Wee Craic," the best of Irish and Scottish filmmakers at their 4th Annual Shorts Night.

In conjuction with their annual Irish film festival in March, Film Fleadh organizes this evening of films to highlight short subjects made by their countrymen and women.

Directors showcased in this series include Cathal Watters, Colm Russell, Jason Tammemagi, Neil Jack, Rory Bresnihan, Andrew McCarthy, Neasa Hardiman and Tom Donahue.

The films begin at 7 pm at the NYU Cantor Center, 36 E. 8th Street at University. The Shorts Night After Party held at the Red Lion, 151 Bleecker Street at Thompson begins at 9 pm, with complimentary Heineken until 11 pm. The bands Lancaster County Prison and America's Sweetheart will also be performing. Tickets cost $20 for the films and the party, or $12 for the party only.
