Damb, i live in Glasgow,Scotland, and in Britain Hip-Hop has only been big for the past 5 years, i was the only one in highschool that loved it in my early years, not only do i like hip hop but i adore every single one of these artists all my favourites out of my select favourite styles, that feature in the block party and these artists are even less known so i still find myself loving this alone.

I can relate to these artists, there lyricsm, there vibe, this cool, soulful Hip-Hop and Soul itself with artists like Jill Scott, all this blew my mind when i found out they are doing this together...something i always dreamed of as the best performance, hopfully they decide to do an international tour.
I think the only thing missing is A Tribe Called Quest

I was in the front row during that concert. It was amazing to see all of those stars up close and personal. When JIll Scott sang I got chills up and down my spine. When Ericka Badu took off her wig it just made me love her even more as an artist. She was letting her sisters know look I have bad hair days too! Overall it was EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to get tickets to this, and as part of the questionnaire they required that you list your race. Several of my white friends also applied for tickets and were all denied, while my black friends were granted tickets. When I went to a taping of the Chappelle show last spring, I also noticed that the production people would not seat white people in the first two rows (aka: in view of the camera). What gives with that BS?

I was there with Standard Deviance for part of the show, and what I saw was phenomenal! It wast great, and I just wish that I ignored the advice against bringing cameras because I would have definitely taken loads of pics of Erykah Badu pulling off her wig and diving into the audience.

They refer to Lauren Hill as Mr. Hill in the Times article.

"On Saturday night Mr. Jean strummed his guitar and smiled while Mr. Hill rapped on one side of him"

well, I'll be the downer on the whole thing. I live right on that corner, had no idea what was going on and after an extremely late night was quite unhappy about the crowds, police, non-stop noise and film crews outside my window.

might have been nice of mr. chappelle to at least warn the neighbors of the upcoming event.

music was good, I suppose, but I was too pissed off to care.

Gosh. I was just around the corner, and when I went to get groceries I wondered what all the commotion (and RVs and fancy cars) was about. We got flyers requesting a $10 donation for the neighborhood block party. It was apparently off the hook, from the sound of things.

Note to self: be curiouser.
