Worker Dies At Metropolitan Museum

A worker who had been caulking the glass windows on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum's Temple of Dendur exhibit fell through the glass ceiling to his death this morning. The Temple of Dendur is one of the Met's more popular exhibits, with ruins from an Eqyptian temple set in a beautiful, light filled space (the Temple of Dendur figures prominently in films like When Harry Met Sally, Main in Manhattan, A Perfect Murder and Bonfire of the Vanities). Newsday reports the exhibit was closed and the patrons who witnessed the fall were being questioned.

Alright people. Somebody DIED here, and you guys seem that making a joke out of the situation is the best thing to do. WTF?.

Have some respect! You'd probably not find it funny if somebody made jokes when one of your friends died.

  • I broke up with a girl right there once. I didn't mean to, but it happened right there. Awful, stupid way to handle it - she deserved better.

Did he fall through the glass from a greater height? That's terrible.

I'm so glad the museum representative was able to reassure people that a section of the museum was cordoned off because of an accident, not TERRORISM!!!

    Gimme a freakin' break.

Seriously, it's a very sad story.

  • S.D.

"strangely mystical death rituals"? "nlock all sorts of ancient power"?

methinks you watch too many Movies...

  • eg

wonder if it will awaken any spirits in the tomb? i mean how long has it been since those ancient relics have been in the proxiamty of death?

i'm sure in their heyday they were witness to some strangely mystical death rituals.

maybe the tomb only works when a new person loses his/her life in it's vicinity. a new ghost could unlock all sorts of ancient power....

  • hmm, must be some bad glass or something, because that shouldn't be happening. so many possible people to blame...
