Three Games, Three Losses

Coming into the weekend series with the Phillies, the Mets had some positive momentum. They ended their losing streak and were returning home. With the weekend over, the Mets have officially been eliminated from contention for the NL East pennant. Their Elimination Number for the wild card is 3.

In yesterday's 4-2 loss (box score, Tom Glavine was injured in the 7th inning when Tomas Perez hit a ball off Glavin's shin. The result was a huge welt, but the extent of the injury could not be determined at Shea.

Little greets the Mets today, as they play a doubleheader with the Braves as part of their five game series at Shea. Sounds like their Elimination Number for the Wild Card will no longer be useful for them as they're going to get eliminated this week. Gothamist just hopes they don't end up worse than the Expos.
