Julia Diaco, who was busted for selling drugs, including cocaine, as an NYU freshman earlier this year, received 18 months probation from a State Supreme Court Justice. The terms of her probation are that she must complete a 10-month residential treatment program at Clear View in Sandpoint, Idaho and then an 8-month vocational program. The ruling gives clues into what happens with offenders who get probation: If she completes the Clear View residential program, Diaco's guilty pleas ["criminal sale of a controlled substance (to an undercover officer) and criminal possession of a controlled substance (cocaine found in her dorm room when a search warrant was executed"] will be "converted to crimes that don't require jail time," then receiving 5 years probation. But if she violated the probation, she'll have to go to state prision. Let that be a lesson to you new NYU freshman: You can get caught if you deal to undercovers.
The Post has been loving the Julia Diaco story since the beginning. They dubbed her the "Pot Princess" and today's headline, "See Ya Tater, Pot Princess" certainly has a bit of fondness for the co-ed drug dealer. Today, the Post runs a photograph of Diaco going to court (left), looking quite polished and put together, and emphasizes that Diaco's family wealth played a part in her getting a sweet probation deal. A Legal Aid attorney tells the Post, "I would love for our clients to be offered the same deal. But Legal Aid wouldn't be representing a princess." Well, of course - money talks in this world. It's not right, but that's what happens. Diaco's lawyer says the probation at Clear View is not "the lap of luxury" and notes that while Diaco was selling a variety of drugs, Mary Jane was her biggest problem: "She had a very heavy marijuana habit. The morning began with marijuana, and the day ended with marijuana." Gothamist hopes that Diaco manages it through probation; she's the most high-profile bust of a college drug dealer we've heard of, and let's face it, they are a dime a dozen. We'd actually be interested in Law & Order: Class of 2009 where undercovers have to attend NYU, Columbia, Fordham, St. John's, Brooklyn College, Hunter, you name it - it's totally Law & Order meets 21 Jump Street.

pretty cushy- being stuck in hodunk Idaho,
miles away from everything. 15 minutes away from skiing and not to mention the cheese.
They do grow some fine pot up there not to mention lots of meth.
shes hot. i want to buy weed from her right now.
As I said before, she's from a really fancy town not far from my hometown (which is NOT fancy). Bruce Springsteen lives less than a mile from her parents.
Did someone here suggest that this was more about her wanting attention than needing some spending money?
I was at an NYU fraternity sponsored party with her last fall... this chick was all over every guy there, and was blabbing about her druggie exploits. Dirty girl man.

heh...first the suicides, then the "Pot Princess." I wonder if NYU is trying to themselves, "there is no such thing as bad publicity." the thing is that there is enough drug dealing and drug use at NYU that I doubt this bust will mean very much in terms of curbing the problem at all.
read the article - it's not 18 months probation - she has to complete, successfully, the time at the idaho facility - and then her charges will be reduced and she will get a sentence of FIVE years of probation. That's no light sentence. Plus, she will be a convicted felon. She might not have to go to jail, but given that she has to spend 10 months in Idaho in order to avoid jail, this is no walk in the (Washington Square)park.
Really?
Horses, backpacking in the Idaho Wilderness,
not to mention suffering Snow Boarding down Swietzer Mountain with all the powder in the world and black diamond runs?
It is no walk in the park but a dream vacation.
I wanna go
Yeah evam, but all without drugs! How will the poor dear survive?
fuck all of u julie i such a sweet girl and this isn't fucking easy for her and the people that know her so why don't u keep your fucking gay comments to yourslef
well thats obviously a lie. Jewels hates fraternities... Wouldn't be caught dead with a frat guy. whoever wrote in, bullshit, get ya facts straight. bunch a jealous haters. wait til you see her on tv next time
ah, I was waiting for a "friend" from rumson to stand by her. Nothing like a rich friend to defend her. Thank God I live in Little Silver. Too bad I'm not the son of some mob father. Oh wait, how do I know the father is the mob?! Pardon me! Wow, she'll be a convicted, big deal. Like she was going to do anything with her life besides getting a job from a family member and then marrying some rich guy and living the rest of her life not raising a finger. Way to go judge for giving her probation. You really taught her a lesson
nah actually i went to nyu with her, i'm not from rumson. But I know some girls from little silver too. Talk about lap of luxury, haha. And anyway, if she wanted to "live off her family without raisin a finger" she woulda done so, gotten the money from her parents for weed. She hates spending her parents money, wouldnt even use it to buy cigs, nevermind weed. And good question special k, how did u know her dads in the mob? Dumb as hellllllll
Ummmm... I don't care what she does.... I just want to know if she will sit on my face... Damnnnn... She's FUCKIN HOT!!!
Hi Julia ,
I am ex-con black deaf woman 5 years ago that I was criminal sale with substance abuse 3% of undercover black bum where i lived in Long Island City ,Queen and I was second time jail . First , I went Riker Island Jail only 2 months and later I was same thing charges the judge suggest me 5 years probaton but I refused and I decided to get sentnce for 1 years and the judges gave me already but I joined boot camp for drug program like " STEP Program - Step , Taught , Em,powerment and Pride " and I went to Step Program only 6 months . I released jail on July 14 ,2001 . I will have to be aware and sobriety about 21 months and 23 days . that is rough time for good and bad times with drugfree no matter what .
Hopefully , u will understand what the mean drug can destroy your life like Bongs to songs , hot beauty woman what u are , you don't get high pot princess fame or overwheming talent person that is not worth of yr criminal situtation . I hope that u will send me someday .
I love u as God love u no matter what John 3:16 .
Love Linda Mc
Ok, i have to make something quite clear here. There are two parts of Rumson. There is the 85% rich bastard population, and the 10% middle class as well as the 5% struggling family types. I live in a neighboring town, and i went to the highschool she attended. Make no mistake. Along with 95% of the population of teenagers in the area, she was a drug dealing, hardcore partier, and daily pot smoker. She deserves the same time in jail that a black impoverished male from Asbury would get under the same charges. But, the sad corruption of our judicial system has enabled her to not only fly past her charges, but get a record deal to boot.
fuck. that sucks. probation is a bitch. i've been on it for 2 years now and it really isnt a walk in the park. it blows beyond belief so i definitly feel for the girl. good luck 2 her and her friends...cuz honestly...it is hell.
