Eat This New York

This summer has been one docu after another in the art house theaters. If you've seen enough talking heads, soft money and political intrigue to last you until the next election cycle, might we recommend a documentary on a topic near and dear to the Gothamist heart: New York restaurants.

The documentary Eat This New York (2003), detailing the opening of a Brooklyn eatery by Billy Phelps and John McCormick over the course of year, is playing tonight at Makor at 7:30 pm. A part of Makor's Film on Food Salon, the film feature appearances by such New York food luminaries as Daniel Boulud, Sirio Maccioni, Keith McNally, Drew Nieporent, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and Danny Meyer. Following the screening there will be a discussion with Le Cirque owner Sirio Maccioni and directors Andrew Rossi and Kate Novack, moderated by Peter Elliot of the Bloomberg Executive Dining Guide radio show. Tickets cost $15.
