As Gothamist watches President Bush walk to his special circular stage, the "theater in the round" that pundits refer to from White House press notes (we imagine), we wonder if President will get dizzy, trying to speak to everyone in his line of view around the stage. Or perhaps the stage will rotate.

For kicks, the White House has the President's Record of Achievement: President George W. Bush’s first term has been among the most consequential and successful in modern times. Additionally, the NY Times on the president's message tonight and the full text.

sept 11 came up 7 times in his speech.

TH evidoe they showed right beofre his speech was really interesting . the first couple of minutes showed a little back ground, but then the majority of the video was about how W was a great man b/c of what he did after sept 11. and what did the video say he did?

    1. climbed upon a fire truck and hugged a firefighter.

2.went to a police officer's funeral and accepted the guy's badge from his mother--and now he carries the badge around with him all the time.

    3. years later he hugged a little girl who had lost her mother in the attack

So what did the president do? Looked like a bunch of photo ops to me and whetehr or not he was sincere inthose things doesn't matter b/c not one of them makes us new yorkers any safer? IT was just blatant exploitation of people's emotions about September 11. IF the video showed what he actually DID for New yorkers since 9.11,then i wouldn't have had a problem with it.

"but in reality thereÂ’s just no way around it"?

Well, Badger, I respectfully disagree. IMO, It's standing on the backs of the dead. I don't care if it's a Republican, A Democrat or whatever.

As for using Slavery as a Issue, I tend to be against using that as a Springboardt too.
