This is more than awesome: it took only two days for the photobloggers to go from the ramparts to the very heart of the RNC. First, our friend Mike from Satan's Laundromat, who as recently as Saturday morning was enjoying the hospitality of the NYPD down at the Tombs, put up this amazing set from inside MSG. No word yet on how Mike slipped inside. And Mike was not alone! Eliot Shepard also got inside, and put up a superb series of images on Slower. I am extremely curious for pics of people of color (that aren't MSG employees) at the convention. Aside from the PR money shots (hey! we got minorities in here!) put out by the RNC, all I can really see in all those pics (they are great) are a bunch of white people. :)
Say, Since Dick Cheney was there, didn't they have to sign a Loyalty Oath To get in??
No Wait, Michael Moore was there, so I suppose not...

While you are technically right, only approx. 7% of the delegates at the RNC are African American, that number is almost double of what it was in 2000.

Oh and btw, African Americans comprised 20% of the delegates at the DNC.
Hmmm, How's that compare to the national Breakdown? My Theory is: the two Conventions aren't representational due to the fact that Only a small % of the party actually go to Conventions (Expensive)...

Nemo forgot to tell you the most important statistic about the 167 Black delegates at the RNC. This year's 7% actually beats out the previous record of 6% ... in the 1912 Republican National Convention!!! (And I got this info from a proud Black conservative's website!)
Actually, I think the 7% figure might be the usual fuzzy math. I believe there are 2,500 delegates (and another 2,000 alternates). According to my calculator 167 is not exactly 7% of 2,500 (and MUCH less of 4,500). But correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.
Are African-Americans siding with the GOP? Just the "faith-based" yahoos, it seems. Even the GOP doesn't believe the Black community is on their side.
